Origin: Peru
Alkaline cacao is also called Dutch cacao, because this process is done in many in the Netherlands.In this process, the natural cacao is washed with a potassium carbonate solution, which ensures that the acid in the cacao is neutralized. This makes the cacao always dark brown and it does not vary in colour or taste.
Alkalised Cacao Powder is great for making chocolate and chocolate milk.This low fat type contains 10-12% of cocoa butter is commonly used to flavour baked products (cakes, cookies, etc.), cream, butter cream, whipped cream and other desserts.
The cacao trees from which cacao powder is made originated in South America. Our organic cacao powder also comes from there, from Peru to be precise. Cacao trees (Theobroma) produce pods that are about 15 to 25 cm long. Each pod contains around 20 to 40 cocoa beans in a kind of pulp.
